Who is Marina Mabrey?

 Marina Mabrey is an American basketball star,  who plays for the Dallas Wings of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNAB),  as well as serving as the shooting guard. She was drafted in the second round by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2019 WNBA draft. Before she used to play with the United State women’s national under-19 basketball team as well as the University of Notre Dame. In 2020, Marina was traded to Dallas Wings where she get international experience with the Latvian club TTT Riga, Israel club Bnot Hertzeliya and Perth Lynx in Australia for the 2021-22 WNBL season. Marina is also an entrepreneur, she owns her business.

Childhood and Family

Marina was born in 1996 in Belmar, New Jersey to Patti and Roy Mabrey. She is a brother to Ryan and Roy and also a sister to Michaela and Dara. Marina was influenced by his brother Roy and sister Michael to love basketball. Moreover, her mother used to coach basketball in their area, Marina together with  Roy and Michaela would go along with their mother and participate in the practice. Basketball became part of Mabrey’s family life where Marina used to compete with her older brother and sister in their driveway as well as local parks.

Marina went to Manasquan High School in Manasquan, New Jersey, 2015 she was part of the two teams that won the state Tournament of Champions and shared the most valuable player honors in the McDonald’s All-American Game.

Education Background

Marina went to Manasquan High School which is located in Manasquan, New Jersey, She later joined the University of Notre Dame. Marina joined her sister Michaela in the 2015-2016 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team.

Professional Career

Marina was drafted in the 2019 WNBA draft as a second-round, 19th-overall pick by the Los Angele Sparks. With the Spark, she appear in 31 games during her rookie season where she averaged 4.0 points, 1.2 rebounds as well as 1.0 assists while shooting  34.4% from the field. Furthermore, In the 2020 WNBA season, Marina was traded by the Sparks to the Dallas Wings for the 2021 second-round draft choice, though the Sparks waived Alexis Jones too.

Overseas Career

Marina moved to Latvia to play TTT Riga during the 2019-20 season. In her first game, she recorded 24 points as well as leading her team with 8  rebounds to win 89-81 over defending champions UMMC Ekaterinburg. She moved to Israel to play for Bnot Hertzeliya for the 2020-2021 season where she averaged 23.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Marina signed with the Perth Lynx in Australia for the 2021-2022 WNBL season.
