Pep Guardiola is a Spanish football manager currently coaching Manchester City, a premier league club. Pep is considered one of the coolest and best football managers of all time.

Currently, his team is topping the Premier League for the 2021-22 season with 63 points. Guardiola joined Mancity in 2016 leading them to the premier league title. He not only led them to the premier league but he also helped them break several domestic records including Man City attaining 100 league points.

Pep is the first coach to win a domestic treble in English men’s football, after winning the second consecutive Premier League and EFL Cup. He also won the FA Cup the following seasons. The Spanish man was behind the win Man City 2021 Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola Early Life

The Spanish man was born On January 18th, 1971 in Santpedor, Spain. He was brought up in a middle-class family. As a young boy, he used to leave his home and joined his agemates to play in a nearby plot that was shaped like a field.

His passion for the game started from and before he could release it he was a football addict. From playing in a small field he became a ballboy for Nou Camp, earning the name ballboy master.

He later joined Barca’s youth camp in 1984, at this time he was showing the potential of becoming a great player. The ballboy master turned out to be a professional footballer and a manager. His career at Barcelona began at the age of 13 years old and since then he has grown to become a football icon.

Career

Just like many managers, he began his career as a footballer playing for Barcelona‘s youth team before he was promoted to the first team in the 1990s playing as a midfielder. At the time he was playing under the manager who made him a regular start in the 1991-92 season at the age of 20 years.

After a decade with the Spanish giants, he moved to Brescia, a Serie A team in 2001 at the age of 30 years. After a while, he decided to take his expertise to Italy where he joined Roma. His career with the Roman club hit rocks after testing positive for nandrolone which led to a four-month ban. The charges were cleared 6 six years later but they were later reopened and cleared again in 2009.

After Roma, he went all the way to Qatar Stars League where he joined Al-Ahli where he played for three years before moving to Dorados. In 2006, he joined Dorados where he officially retired as a footballer.

When it comes to international football, he played for Spain where he represented Spain in the 1994 World Cup where they reached. In 1998, he was unable to participate in the 1998 World as he suffered a threatening injury. Before his retirement from international football, he had made 45 appearances.

Managerial Career

After his retirement, he was appointed as Barcelona’s manager for team B in July 2007 alongside his assistant Tito Vilanova. With team  B he performed excellently earning a promotion to the senior team in May 2008.

He joined the senior during the 2008-09 season where he perfected his coaching skills. At the time he was taking over Barcelona’s mercenaries Ronaldinho and Decor were living the club but to him, it wa not a big deal since he had not included them in his plans.

He won his first Champion League with his first season after beating Manchester, becoming the youngest coach in the history of football to guide a team to the Champions League. With Barcelona, he achieved a lot as a coach before he left the club.

From Barcelona, his next station was at Bayern Munich, a Bundesliga club based in Germany. He joined the club in January 2013 after being on sabbatical leave for almost a year.

As usual, he is the winning guy, he won the third Club World Cup in his first season with the club after squeezing Raja Casablanca. Since he took over Bayern lost only once in the champions league group stage.

After 3 years of success, he felt it was time for him to leave the Bavarian Club and sought greener pastures elsewhere. He left a good track record of 82 wind, 11 draws, and nine losses in the Bundesliga.

Manchester City

The young-looking coach arrived at Etihad in February 2016 signing a three year with the premier league club. Soon after his arrival, he was released the club was experiencing some sought challenges and they were weak points.

In order to fill the loopholes, he signed new players including IIkay Gundogan, a spectacular midfielder. He also replaced the long-serving goalkeeper Joe Hart and brought Claudio Bravo from his former club Barcelona. Joe Hart was then sent to Torino on loan and that is how his career with the club ended.

He finished the season without any trophy but he assured clubs management he was going to improve the following season. The following season he clinched his first trophy with the club after crushing Manchester United 1-0.

As of 2022, his performance at the club can be described as magnificent and spectacular, he has scooped several trophies with the club and broken several records with the club.

He is the son of Valenti Guadiola and Dolors Guadiola. His parents are his number one fan and they are always together. His dad is a kinda dad who loves media attention but he is a proud father and he speaks highly of his son.

He is also very vocal when it comes to protecting his son. He has an elder sister and a younger brother who is one of the best football agents, Luis Suarez is one of his clients.
