Scottie Pippen is a former basketball star player from the United States. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 7 years, and he won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.

Scottie, considered one of the greatest small forwards of all time, along with Michael Jordan, was instrumental in transforming the Bulls into a championship team and popularizing the NBA around the world during the 1990s.

He was Overwhelmed by Jordan throughout his Bulls career, Scottie also expressed erratic play, moodiness, and troubled personal life, all of which made his role as a top player slightly controversial.

Some saw his career as a balancing act between bursts of athletic genius and spats of uncooperativeness and immaturity. Moreover, in particular, the balance is on the plus side, at least according to the National Basketball Association (NBA), which named the 6’8″, 228-pound Scottie one of the top fifty basketball players of all time in 1996.

Since the beginning of his career path with the Chicago Bulls in 1987, his amazing skills as a point guard, shooter, passer, rebounder, shot blocker, and overall defender has earned him a steady stream of accolades.

Scottie was drafted fifth overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1987 NBA Draft. The Bulls made a trade with the Seattle Supersonics, in exchange for the eighth pick, Olden Polynice.

He became part of Chicago’s young forward duo with 6 ft 10 in power forward Horace Grant but both came off the bench to back up Brad Sellers as well as Charles Oakley respectively during their rookie seasons.

Moreover, he made his debut in 1987, when the Chicago Bulls opened over the Philadelphia 76ers, where he finished with 10 points, 2 steals, 4 assists as well as 1 rebound in 23 minutes of play.

Phil Jackson took over as head coach at the start of the 1989-90 season, succeeding Doug Collins. Scottie benefited greatly from the coaching change. Jackson used a different offensive alignment than Collins, allowing Pippen more freedom of movement and allowing him to use his skills as a guard and forward.

However, his career average increased to 16.5 points per game, and he was named to the All-Star team for the first time. The Chigaco Bulls faced the Pistons again in the 1989-90 playoffs. Throughout the series, Scottie suffered from migraine headaches and performed poorly. His team lost again, and Scottie took the brunt of the criticism, with many fans accusing him of being unable to handle the pressure of big games.

Scottie was embroiled in a contract dispute during the 1990-91 season. He eventually received a guaranteed contract worth $3.5 million per year through the 1997-98 season, he had a fantastic season on the court.

Scottie averaged 17.8 points per game, 595 rebounds, 511 assists, and 193 steals in helping his team to win their first world championship. During the 1991-92 season, his abilities continued to improve, and he averaged 21.0 points per game, made his first All-Star appearance, was named to his first All-Defensive team, and was chosen to play on the United States Olympic “Dream Team.”

Despite the Bulls winning their second world championship in a row, Pippen played with a sprained ankle and an injured wrist. Furthermore, the Chigaco Bulls won their third world championship in a row in 1993. After performing brilliantly throughout the playoffs, he was finally able to shake the “choke artist” label. His performance even outperformed Michael Jordan, who was under intense media scrutiny due to allegations of illegal gambling.

Personal scandal overshadowed Scottie’s 1995 season. After his fiancee, Yvette Deleone accused him of pushing her and grabbing her arm, he was arrested on a domestic abuse charge. Soon after, model Sonya Roby filed a paternity suit, claiming that Scottie was the father of her child.

Despite his denial of the charge, he was ordered to pay $10,000 in maternity expenses. However, his problems had no negative impact on his performance on the court. During the 1995-96 season, Scottie managed to average over 19 points per game and was named to the All-NBA First Team for the third time in a row.

He also won a gold medal with the United States basketball team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Furthermore, Scottie helped lead the Bulls to their fifth world championship on June 13, 1997.

He is still in his prime and an important member of the Chicago Bulls. Scottie’s diverse offensive and defensive abilities have made him one of the most electrifying and prolific players to ever don an NBA uniform, ensuring him a future spot in the NBA Hall of Fame.
