Born on January 27, 1992, in Borne, Netherlands, Wout began his youth career at local club RKSV NEO and later moved to DETO Twenterand before moving to Eredivisie club Willem II in 2011. Wout went on and made his professional debut for Eerste Divisie club Emmen in the 2012-13 season. Over the next two seasons, he established himself as a key player for the team, scoring a total of 20 goals in 62 appearances.
After a successful professional debut at Emmen, Wout moved to Eredivisie’s side joining Heracles Almelo as a free agent. His exemplary performance at the club earned him a starting position for the club. During his spell at the club, he helped the club qualify for the Europa League qualifying round for the first time in their history.
After two successful seasons at the Heracles, in 2016, he transferred to AZ signing a four-year contract with an option for an extra year. However, despite signing a four-year contract, he only stayed with the club for two seasons leaving an impressive record at the club’s camp. In the two seasons, he scored a total of 24 goals in 57 appearances.
In 2018, he joined VfL Wolfsburg on a four-year contract and quickly established himself as of the valuable players in the squad. His stars started shining after joining Wolfsburg and big clubs started hunting him. Before completing his four-year deal, Wout was one the club’s all top goal scorers in the Bundesliga, scoring a total of 70 goals in 144 appearances.
After his spell at Wolfsburg ended, Wout moved to English Premiere league in January 2022 joining Burnley on a three-and-half deal worth £12 million. He went on to play full-time on his debut and scored his first goal for the club the following month.
A few months later he was sent to Besiktas on a season-long loan until the end of the 2022-23 season. In January 2023, his contract with the Super Lig club was canceled paving way for him to move to Premier League giants, Manchester. His move to Manchester attracted a loan fee of £3 million which was split between Burnley and Beskites.
International Career
In international football, he represents the Netherlands national team making his senior debut in March 2018. He was part of the team that finished runners-up in the 2020 UEFA Nations League and also played in the Euro 2020. He has been a consistent goal scorer for the national team, scoring a total of 6 goals in 19 appearances.
